Finding Hope: Faith for the Frustrated

For so many years, I was frustrated with what I saw happening behind closed doors in the churches I attended. Dirty politics, backbiting, nepotism, fear, and a focus on the comfort of the congregation instead of the mission of God. I tried to fix it, but I couldn't. Instead, I often found myself mired in it, using the same tactics, and wishing I could change.

When I sat down to write a book about it, I couldn't get ten pages without sounding snarky and mean. So I asked God why, and He answered, "Because you're frustrated."  I knew that already. What did He want me to do about it? He said, "Repent."

Since then I've learned that I can't use my frustration as motivation and expect to effect any change in the church. Instead, I have to learn to love the church the way Jesus commanded. When I gave up my right to be angry and asked God to show me the way, He led me to this series.
